Hello, my name is Sophia Fox. I was a nursing major at Rhode Island College. I worked hard to achieve and maintain a preferable GPA. The classes were challenging yet rewarding. After realizing I had vasovagal syncope, which is a fancy way of saying I get lightheaded when exposed to large amounts of blood, I decided I had to exit the program. As much as I wanted to be self-centered and continue with the program, I did not want to harm myself or a patient due to the possibility of fainting. I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Professional Studies program at Rhode Island College. Although I am certified as an esthetician and have worked in the management department of the musicindustry, I wantto further my education at Rhode Island College. Receiving my degree from Rhode Island College will improve my chances of securing a position at the local elementary or high school, ideally as a guidance counselor. As a guidance counselor, I could help young adults navigate through an already trying time in their lives. Some may find school a breeze, while others struggle with peer acceptance, not wearing trendy clothing or an unfit home life. Children need all the support, direction and encouragement they can get during this critical stage in their lives. I would like to be the person to make a positive change toward academic success.
