While attending Rhode Island College, I was honored when I received notification of my acceptance into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I did not submit an application, yet I was recognized for my hard work. Being accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars has been one of the proudest moments of my academic journey. It represents not only the hard work and dedication I have put into my education but also the acknowledgment of my determination.
From a professional standpoint, becoming a member of the N.S.C.S. will be incredibly valuable as I enter the workforce. Employers look for candidates who demonstrate strong work ethic, discipline, and the ability to achieve results. This recognition illuminates those qualities within me. It shows potential employers that I take my education seriously and that I am capable of going above and beyond expectations. This attribute may strengthen my resume. I am proud of this accomplishment and excited to see how it will open doors and help me in my future career.
At the age of two and a half my mother enrolled me in the state ballet. I remember having a silly time with my toddler friends. We roared like lions and quacked like ducks. As I grew out of my toddler years there was a significant shift; we were no longer silly children taking class to appease our parents. We had grown up and developed the bodies that were meant to hold ourselves up on Russian solid toe pointe shoes with wooden insoles. Acting silly and laughing with our girlfriends during class had become a thing of the past. I will admit at times we giggled, yet we learned to keep it toned down.
After nine and a half years of development and strength training I joined the Professional Ballet Troupe. Being a member of the troupe at a young age meant extended days and hours at the studio. I was extremely committed to the studio. Prior to joining I attended the studio two days a week; after joining I was there four days a week, from early morning to late night on Sundays, Fridays from after school to 10 p.m. It was certainly an all-in activity.
I joined a second studio that taught several other dance styles including lyrical ballet, classical ballet, jazz and tap. I truly enjoyed my time at this studio. At a young age I was able to fill in as a substitute teacher when teachers were absent. I was also asked to help choreograph ballet performances. The studio molded me and gave me the self-confidence to become a dance teacher and work as a manager in the music industry.
